Q-Stable by David Young

“Q-Stable” begins with a hypothesis: if quantum data originates from other universes, then feeding this data into Stable Diffusion might generate images reflecting alternate realities and their cultures. Instead of using standard noise vectors, the system processes actual quantum measurements from IBM quantum computers as input for the diffusion process. The premise is that quantum measurements might carry information from parallel timelines where different choices were made, different technologies developed, different aesthetics emerged. By converting these measurements into latent space coordinates, the AI might access visual information from realities it was never trained on. The images produced so far can be unstable and are often incoherent - exactly what you’d expect from a system trying to render realities it doesn’t recognize. Forms appear that don’t match any earthly reference, color relationships that violate learned associations, compositional logic that feels foreign. The AI struggles to process input that doesn’t correspond to its training data from this universe. These first works on SuperRare come directly from the development process. The system is still being coded and tuned—quantum data preprocessing pipelines, diffusion model modifications, parameter optimization. Each image represents a snapshot of the system’s state as I work to establish a stable bridge between quantum measurements and visual generation. These artifacts are documentation of an experiment in progress.
